Lee Tae Seok Leadership Academy

Lee Tae Seok was the embodiment of servant leadership, a leadership philosophy in which the goal of the leader is to serve, prioritizing the needs of their people over their own interests. When talking to his former patients and students, Lee Tae Seok’s impact as a leader becomes abundantly clear. This is in stark contrast to the unfortunate reality of many political elite that govern the world today. Even in the most developed, democratic countries across the globe, it is rare to find politicians who make policy decisions with their society’s best interests at heart.

While it is tempting to take a pessimistic stance on the future, we have seen firsthand the massive changes that can occur when leaders strive to genuinely serve their people. This is why we launched the Lee Tae Seok Leadership Academy in 2023.

It is a program held across South Korea, South Sudan and Sweden. Classes focus on cultivating crucial leadership skills, teaching responsible governance and the role media plays in democracies. Students have opportunities to interface with former ministers and policy experts of various backgrounds, from Sweden to South Korea. Classes are modeled after the Westminster-style of political science education, focusing on debates and active discourse. Through the Leadership Academy, South Sudanese and Korean students can engage in political discourse with members of various European political youth organizations across the political spectrum, expanding the perspectives of future leaders by encouraging new friendships and exchanges with future leaders across the world.

We believe the Lee Tae Seok Leadership Academy is a step towards cultivating a generation of admirable leaders epitomizing servant leadership and capable of effectively resolving conflicts and governing within the framework of democracy.

”The youth is the hope of our future and the creators of change.”

Journalism School & Lectures

Even prior to the launch of the Lee Tae Seok Leadership Academy, our Foundation has been active in teaching the concepts of servant leadership that Father Dr. Lee embodied. For over a decade, Mr. Goo has actively traveled throughout Korea with a lecture series focused on servant leadership. Since 2017, he launched Journalism School, which gives aspiring journalists in Korea insight into how to maintain journalistic integrity and to better serve their societies, rather than to simply increase “clicks” or article views. Mr. Goo and the Lee Tae Seok Foundation continues to offer enrollment in the Journalism School at no cost.
